ABOUT SHANA

Shana Ware has been embedded in the movement to end violence by being a servant and leader in the field since 2012.  She serves as a co-founder of CAPPA and other national platforms dedicated to creating systems and structures of accountability in addressing the complexities of relationship violence. Shana has dedicated her career to. Addressing the needs of survivors by doing her work through a multidisciplinary lens focusing on the intersections of oppression, mental health, and violence and the impact on survivors.  She believes that by working to create systemic advocacy, survivors may be able to access justice and get the healing that they deserve on a larger scale.

Shana is being welcomed back to the LC, having previously served on the founding LC and on the ‘16-’17 LC. She currently serves as the Survivor Resource Specialist in the Office of Respect, at Emory University. Most recently, she served as the Advocacy Services Coordinator at Northern Illinois University, where she earned several degrees. Shana holds a Masters of Science of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, a Masters of Science of Education in Adult and Higher Education, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Public Health. She is also a co-founder of CAPPA: Campus Advocacy and Prevention Professionals Association and the Sexual and Relationship Violence Education and Response Knowledge Community for NASPA where she is the Chair.
