The CAPPA Membership Committee facilitates interdisciplinary dialogue and creates partnerships both between individual members and with other professional organizations. We work to recruit, retain, and track CAPPA membership to foster a sense of community within the field. We provide pathways for members to connect, energize, focus, and balance as we seek to facilitate and cultivate mentorship and interpersonal relationships among practitioners in the field.

The CAPPA Communications Committee is dedicated to maintaining and expanding CAPPA’s visibility through curating CAPPA’s website and social media content. This committee is also responsible for CAPPA’s branding and messaging to members and external constituents.

(currently on hiatus) The CAPPA Needs Assessment & Strategic Planning (NASP) Committee is responsible for understanding the changing needs of CAPPA members and the other LC committees, through formal (e.g. surveys, focus groups, interviews) and informal means (e.g. listserv activity), and working with the Leadership Council and its committees to develop and monitor progress towards strategic goals and outcomes. The committee is responsible for developing an assessment, reporting, planning cycle, and timeline, as well as keeping general CAPPA membership apprised of activity towards the plan.

(currently on hiatus) The CAPPA Recruitment, Selections & Onboarding (RSO) Committee aims to recruit a strong and diverse Leadership Council. Rooted in social justice and using anti-racist practices, this committee coordinates the annual LC recruitment and selections process and orients new LC members to the mission and vision of the organization. This committee can also assist in the recruitment of members to participate in other LC Committees, as needed.

The CAPPA Professional Development & Networking (PDN) Committee facilitates and fosters the development of socially just, anti-racist professional standards driven by the best available evidence and practice expertise. These professional standards help to better define essential competencies, training, and practices for campus-based prevention and advocacy work and connect members by providing common language.

The CAPPA Legislative Landscape & Position Statement (LLPS) Committee monitors and, on behalf of CAPPA or in coalition with partner organizations, responds to proposed and actual changes in the political and legislative landscape on issues that directly impact survivors and the work of campus advocates and prevention practitioners. The committee also assists in providing members with guidance and support around understanding and navigating compliance and legislative changes and advocating on their own campuses, serves as a collective voice from our field to advocate for the needs of members at a national level, and takes a position on timely conversations that have implications for members and the individuals we serve.

The CAPPA Research Committee seeks to share evidence-based/informed practices and current scholarship, decrease the gap between research and practice, and facilitate practice-based research in an effort to support work that is rooted in social justice, supporting survivors, and fostering communities that value evidence-based practice, practice-based research, and self-care.
