As a professional organization, opportunities for continuing growth and development are essential to our members.
The CAPPA Training Committee sees two distinct and important opportunities for training: to grow the knowledge base and practical skills in our own field, and to bring the unique expertise of CAPPA professionals into conversation with others working on shared issues.
We are constructing training opportunities with the following goals in mind:
Fostering conversations about the linkages between prevention, advocacy, and accountability within a social justice framework.
Broadening professional development beyond content knowledge to include harder skills from other areas of our work, for example community organizing.
Facilitating transitions between campus and community, as both professionals moving between settings, as well as understanding how campus sexual and domestic violence is located in a larger structural system.
In 2015-2016, keep an eye out for:
In-person training and networking opportunities at conferences and meetings.
Pre-conference and track opportunities at professional conferences.
