Research & Practice Committee

As a professional organization, it is essential for members to have access to and be familiar with the most recent research relating to the field of advocacy and prevention on campus. The CAPPA Research and Practice Committee is focused on two primary areas: curating existing research and soliciting evidence-based best practices. The CAPPA Research and Practice Committee will compile and curate existing and current research for CAPPA members. The CAPPA Research and Practice Committee will also facilitate conversations and share white papers and other resources highlighting best practices from across the field.

The Research and Practice Committee will focus on research and best practices that focus on the following:

  • Research that is developed and conducted by practitioners in the fields of advocacy and prevention
  •    Research in the academic context that has practical value for campus prevention educators and advocates
  •  White papers and federal guidance that impact the work of campus prevention educators and advocates – including those developed by other higher education and community-based professional associations

In 2015-2016, the Research and Practice Committee will:

  • Work with the CAPPA Leadership Council as well as members to develop and publish an online research reference list for advocates and prevention professionals
  •  Work with current researchers to offer opportunities for campus advocates and prevention professionals to participate in and have input on current research in the field
  •  Provide opportunities for members who are involved in research to inform CAPPA membership and participate in publication and presentation opportunities which are relevant to CAPPA membership
  •    Develop a list of relevant research to inform the work and increase the competency of professionals in the fields of advocacy and prevention
